NEWBIE TIP #1
You will get lost at least once. If in the event you get lost, do not panic. Panicking only increases your chances of getting more lost and into an accident. Find a safe place to stop and check your directions.
Do not use car-based navigation systems. You don't want to find yourself trying to navigate your big rig through a residential subdivision. Opt out of using Google maps and car-based Garmins.
Always write down your route and have it in front of you on your dashboard. Familiarize yourself with your route as much as possible before and during your trip. This will lessen the chances of you getting lost and will help you feel more comfortable getting back on track in the event you do find you have made a wrong turn somewhere.
